365 Days of Discipline

"A second line of research has shown that economic stress robs us of cognitive bandwidth. Worrying about bills, food or other problems, leaves less capacity to think ahead or to exert self-discipline. So, poverty imposes a mental tax.."

 From Desolation to Harmony

At one point in my life, I used to think that most people find it awkward or even cringy to live in peace with each other. As if the acts of kindness and love weren't in style and that acts of hatred and hustle were the norm.

I'll admit it, I was wrong. This poor perception of people I developed when I was younger was the inevitable product of the environment I willingly chose to stay in.

This environment was the physical and virtual space I occupied, the people I called friends, and the people I put up with because of my ego or the fear of being alone.

It was impossible to live at peace with myself when I was at constant war with my environment. How could I expect to grow if I plant myself in desolation and turmoil?

Take control of your situation and align yourself with the positive influences you need in your life. You are who you surround yourself with.

If you can't do that, at least be the role model you wish you had.
